Release date (USA): July 25, 1980

The movie starts with a morning view of the golf course with the sprinklers on, watering the grass as they roll credits. Two different golf courses were used in the filming of this movie. The main one was The Rolling Hills Golf and Tennis Club in Davie Florida.  This club is now called the Grande Oaks Golf Club. I have had the pleasure of having dinner in the members private dining area of the club with then Dolphins coach Dave Wannstedt. I have to admit I spent at least as much time recalling scenes from this movie, what was filmed where, as I did listening to what he was saying. Nothing against Dave, its just that I was in movie holy ground and that can be very distracting for me. The second club used for filming this movie was the Boca Raton Resort and Club located at 501 East Camino Real in Boca Raton, Florida. It appears that all the outdoor golfing scenes were filmed at the Rolling Hills Golf and Tennis Club while the Boca Raton Resort and Club was used for some of the interior scenes.

In this first shot the shape of the sand trap does not match up with traps that are currently on either course. Based on the general background and trees I believe this was filmed at the Rolling Hills Golf and Tennis Club in Davie but I cannot confirm this 100%. If you have any knowledge of this or any other shot from the film, please let me know at cglide@floridamovielocations.org

The course has changed some since the filming with a significant reduction to the amount of paved cart paths so I was unable to place this exact location.

This is probably the club house at Rolling Hills but it does not match the current look.  Location unsure.

Then we go to Danny’s house. Thanks to Chas at itsfilmedthere.com we now know that this was filmed at 232 N Avenue 54 in the Highland park area of Los Angeles. Thanks again Chas for letting me know so I could share the information here. The garage on the left side of the house has since been torn down and a tree now makes a re-creation shot difficult.

Danny sneaks out of the house and heads for work on his bike. We first see him near some railroad tracks. This was filmed in California. Mission Street and Meridian Ave. in South Pasadena. Note the sign on the building in the background, Mission west. He rode northbound up Meridian and crossed over Mission St. continuing northbound.

Then he rides by some California houses before crossing through the gates of the country club.  Well really he is riding through the gates to Bel Air on Sunset Blvd. in California.

Then he arrives at work. This is the  Rolling Hills Golf and Tennis Club in Davie.

Then we see him out on the course with Ty Webb. This is the 17th hole at  Rolling Hills Golf and Tennis Club in Davie.

The vehicles going by in the background are driving north and south on SW 88th Ave.

Then we see Judge Smails arriving thru the gate. You can almost make out the sign on the right side of the gate that reads Bel Air, West Gate.

Be the ball.

Then we see the Judge witness massive course destruction at the hands of a gopher. The flag indicates the 14th hole but that does not match up. Exact location unknown, so far.

The grounds keeper blames it on the nearby construction.  Looks like a shot from California.  Location unknown.

The grounds keeper puts his best man on the job of getting rid of the golfers  err. make that gophers. He finds him, well, cleaning his balls.

This was filmed at Rolling Hills near the main club house by what is the tee for the 10th hole. There appears to be some type of tower (perhaps a water tower) in the background behind what what may or may not be a tennis court. The tower no longer exist. Looking at satellite pictures from 1994 and comparing them to today. It is clear that development has encroached on the course.

Then we go to the Caddyshack. There is a sign on the left side of the building pointing to the left that reads Maintenance Area. This was filmed at Rolling Hills by their maintenance buildings.

Then on the same course we see an elderly couple golfing.  At one point we see the caddy shack in the background. They are on the 17th fairway.

Then we go back to the caddy shack where we learn the price of coke has risen and the Caddy scholarship has again become available.

Then we go to the club house. I am 90% sure this was filmed at Rolling Hills.

Ohh it looks good on you though.

Then we go to the front of Rolling Hills where Rodney arrives.

Then we go out on the course where we meet Lacy Underall. This was filmed at Rolling Hills. They tee off on what is now the 4th hole near the club house.

The war begins.  Exact location unknown.

Then we see Danny doing some more a** kissing. They are walking eastbound down what is currently the fairway of the 8th hole of Grande Oaks, the former Rolling Hills. This is the far north-west corner of the course and they are walking along the northern border. At one time you can see a sign in the background that reads Harvest. That is a real sign and is still the name of the complex seen in the background. SW 30th Street is also seen in the background.

Rodney is proudly showing off one of his developments. This is actually, Harvest and he is by the green of the 7th Hole at Rolling Hills.

You’ll get nothing and like it. They make a brief stop at a snack bar. Exact location unknown.

Then Rodney approaches the Judge on the 18th Green at Rolling Hills. Hey Smails. $1000.00 bucks you miss that putt.

Of course he chokes. He then launches his putter up onto the deck.

Then we see Rambo or rather Carl Spackler preparing to rid the grounds of the gopher.  Location unknown.

Then it is back to the club house at Rolling Hills. John Brown reports that over a one week period they performed a facelift to the club house including a two story addition on top that was just for show. He also confirmed that the the interior dinning room scene and dancing scene were filmed at the Boca Raton Hotel and Country Club. Thanks again John.

Next we see Spackler on the attack. Why he needs a flashlight during the daytime is beyond me. Location unknown.

Then it is back to the club house for more action.

Then it cuts to the next day, out on the course. Hole unknown.

Nannnaa  nannna,nah. Exact location unknown.

Then it is tee off time for the Caddy Tournament. They tee off from what is now the fourth hole at Rolling Hills.

Into the trap.  Unknown location.

Thanks to John Brown who worked at Rolling Hills at the time Caddyshack was filmed and was drafted into a part in the movie, we now know that this scene was actually filmed on a set built within the dinning room of the Rolling Hills Country Club. They made a makeshift counter and displays because the dinning room overlooked the golf course. Thank you John, for letting us know.
